Privacy Policy

As a personal safety company, we believe strongly in the safety, security and privacy of your data. We are registered with the Information Commissioner, and our data management takes into account both the UK Data Protection Act as well as GDPR regulations. Please read on for a summary of our privacy policy, including details of the information we collect from you and how we look after it. Please note, in this privacy policy, "we" refers to Text You Home Limited, the company which provides the alertabuddy service.

THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you register, we ask you for some personal details so that we can provide you with the service. We need to know who you are, your contact details and the contact details for the people you want us to get hold of in case of emergency. We also ask you to set a password so that we are sure it is you who tells us when you're safe and sound. We'll retain this information for as long as you are enrolled on the system. When you are un-enrolled from the system, this data will be archived for 12 months (to enable you to rejoin the system easily if you change your mind), and then it will be fully deleted from our servers.

HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION

We follow tight security procedures to protect your personal information against loss or unauthorised access. The servers that store the information are kept in a secure facility with restricted physical access. We also protect your data against electronic access through the use of security firewalls and encryption.

EMAILS

We DO NOT use your details for marketing purposes, and do not send marketing emails.

There are some emails which we do need to send you as an essential part of the service, for example, to advise you if there are any important updates to the system that you need to be aware of.

We also email you monthly to remind you to check the contact details that we hold for you. This ensures that this information is kept up to date, which can be vital in an emergency situation. Although this monthly email is a core part of the service, we do still provide an opt-out option for those who wish to take responsibility for remembering to update their details proactively.

WHO ELSE IS INVOLVED?

We won't pass on your data to any third parties for marketing purposes.

To provide you with the best possible service, we partner with other companies. We do this to send and receive text and voice messages, and to process payments. In choosing these partners, we have taken into account their data security processes and reputation. When we need to transfer any data to these trusted partners, we make sure that the transfer is as safe and secure as possible.

In the event that our business is ever sold to or merges with another business, or if we undertake a joint venture with another business, your information may be disclosed to our new business partners or owners.
